FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

For further questions please give me a text at 910-876-6893.

Do you crate-dry dogs?

No.  We do not use crates for any reason unless reactive behavior deems necessary.  We will never crate your dog without your knowledge and consent.

Are vaccinations required?

Yes! We require all pets to be current with their rabies vaccination.  The kennel cough vaccination, Bordetella, is also strongly recommended but not a requirement.  If your pet can not receive vaccinations, an exemption letter from your vet confirming this is also acceptable.  I understand that some senior dogs, or dogs with medical conditions, can no longer be vaccinated. We are a one-on-one grooming salon, so no dogs are ever exposed to each other.  Sanitation/disinfection is done between every appointment.

What is One-On-One Grooming?

Grooming is done on a one-on-one basis. That means your dog will be the only one with each of our groomers, getting their full attention.  We do, however, take family dogs together.  If you have multiple dogs in your family, and they are comfortable coming together, we would love to have them!  Because all grooming is done this way, your furry friend's grooming process will begin as soon as they arrive. This means they will get back home with you in the least amount of time possible.

What is Fear Free Grooming?

A groomer certified through the Fear Free program makes it a priority to alleviate any fear, anxiety or stress your pet may experience during the grooming process.  We do this by using a variety of techniques, as well as by going at your pet's pace.  No aversive techniques, such as force or fear based, will ever be used. How often should my dog be groomed?

If you like your dog long and fluffy I recommend getting a full groom done every 2-4 weeks.  Some dogs need weekly appointments to keep their skin healthy and their coats free of tangles.  It really depends on the condition and type of coat they have.  You can also decide to get a bath between grooms which will help with maintenance. If that is the case your pup might be able to go 8 weeks if being bathed in-between.  I also offer a brush out service which can be scheduled as often as needed.  Check the Dog Grooming Service page for more information.

If your pet is on the shorter side, I recommend bringing them in anywhere from 6-8 weeks.  Regular bathing, with high quality products, does NOT dry out your dog's skin or coat.  In fact, it can have the opposite results and keep your pet healthy and mat free.

If your dog has skin issues, I advise you to check with your veterinarian and ask what they recommend.  Some dogs do great with a weekly medicated bath.
